Hi all,

I was wondering..Sony Ericsson's (SE) new 8.1MP phone, C905, & Samsung's INNOV8 phone releasing...will the quality of a picture be better?
Or rather, wad is it to look out for, in camera phones, in terms of picture quality?

Many thanks! :D

I somehow doubt that the picture quality of camera phone will improve greatly even with the increase in resolution. Currently the best camera phone I have come across is the Nokia N82 so it remains to be seen how much better other camera phones can be.

Have to agree. I am using a N82 myself. wife using N95, not even close to matching.
I personally won't buy a camera phone with those crappy LED for flash, but lets not kid ourselves, the CHEAPEST ;) PnS will always shoot better quality pics than then 4 digit camera phone.

I know what phone manufacturers always want to claim. The fact is, a phone is a phone, a camera is a camera. I shoot with my camera phone when I don't have a camera. Otherwise, if you want good shots, there's no reason why u can't take along a small PnS for that purpose, or lug the dSLR with ya.

As for those 8MP new models, well.....they are priced enuff to buy a EOS 450D, so u have to be really stupid to spend good and decent money like tat for crappy shots, compared to what a Nikon or Canon can deliver. EOS 1000D is under 1k category, so if u sign a say....N96 w/o contract at around 1098....does it not make sense to get a dSLR?

One might argue I'd use a camera PHONE more often than a dSLR. No arguement, but are u SHOOTING more or USING your phone more. cos a cheapo $99 handphone can also can, and probably have more battery life than you by twice. Before I left Motorola, we were manufacturing B/W basic models that sells like US$30 with batt life over 30 DAYS. Now, all those N series, and WM models, you probably have to charge every 24-36hrs, which means, your battery won't last beyond 600 cycles.

LG secret, Samsung has got many, I think they now uses same 5mp sensors in all their high end phone. I have no conclusion on c905 yet, as theres many postings of photos taken by ard 2 to 3 firmwares. I think they will finally use Sony sensor instead of Samsung ones.

A CSer once posted up photos taken with his Thailand or China made HP.

The pictures were truly amazing! Let's just say he could have easily said something like "Some new pictures from my new DSLR ..." and most people would have believed it.

SE K series is known to have good camera performance, but is notorious for reliability problems esp the K850i.

That is why i trade that fact off for the Samsung G800 instead, which have a 5MP camera with slightly lower quality but has no OS problems.

Anyway, my recommendations is the Samsung G810. Minor updates from the 800 and include impt wireless GPRS surfing and cosmestic changes...but is a little bulky though if u dont mind
