Can you'll share with us here what camera bag you are using and tell us what good of it.

eg. Backpack, Belt pack, shoulder bag, etc.

Good and bad thing of it (pro and cons la) including it price.

Which one better in term of Brand names and accesibility (Lowerpro, tamrac, Crumpler, etc)

ive seen people carrying tamracs so it must be available somewhere.

Im using 2 lowepros; a nature trekker and a off trail 2

nature trekker AW:
Pros
Thick padding that feels like it gives some serious protection
Heck of a lot of space to put your barang barang(fits a 400/2.8 with body mounted nicely)
tripod holder
AW cover
Cons
Pretty heavy on its own(maybe a kilo)
fairly expensive(200+)
Looks like you've got a tortoise shell on

Off trail 2
Pros
Comfortable to walk around in(its a beltpack btw)
Easy to draw out lenses and change them( holster action )
Fair amount of space. (can fit a 70-200/2.8 with pro body mounted)
Pretty cheap(available second hand for about 20-30)
Cons
No AW
Padding for the side pouches is rather thin(i always get the feeling lenses are not safe)

I'm interested in the Lowepro Specialist 85AW for the following:

1) 1DMKII
2) 17-40 f4L
3) 50 f1.8
4) 70-200 f2.8L
5) 550EX flash

(May change no. 2 and 3 to a 24-70 f2.8L soon)

Is that bag suitable?

Cause it's cheap and its a beltpack.

i m using Stealth Reporter 200. LowePro

Its not too big
can put 1 body and about 4 lens
plenty of compartments.
has a raincover

and you can attach a belt strap to it or a harness system if u ever feel like doing so.

crumpler schrinkle for travelling

1) removable laptop and camera compartments...doubles as a normal bag...
2) zip opens from back....not afraid of things getting stolen when u are crammed in some place overseas
3) fits my cam body and lens well...2 body, 1 flash, 4 lens....
4) tripod can be strapped to the side...
5) maybe not so impt...looks good haha...design separates the weight very well...

Price : 230 at CP...haha...worth it as the weight is well separated...will pay juz for tt..

and a nikon slingbag for events (somehow got this uncanny resemblance to the lowepro stealth reporter 400)...haha

3 short lens 1 body(lens attached) 1 flash...good for taking things out quickly during events and weddings... light with juz enuff padding...no need to sling all the extra weight

price 60 at CP...definately a run for ya money

I got a tamrac bot ard 1998 from a shop opp CP. Think no more. Heard plaza singapore got a place that sell I dunno. I have lowepro not bad, I like Tamrac too.

Backpacks are definitely better than shoulder bags for me. Pulling the weight to one side stresses your spine very badly, and you pay for it at the end of the day. This is even with a small shoulder bag. I was surprised what a bad backache such a small bag could cause. I guess I could sling the shoulder bag across my neck, but I don't like the strap cutting into my chest. A backpack distributes the weight evenly between both shoulders, and also leaves your arms relatively free to shoot (you don't get a bag or strap swinging into the way).

The downside of course is having to take off the bag, put it on the ground and unzip it in order to change lenses. With a shoulder bag that's a little faster, but I'm always afraid of dropping a lens from waist height. Better to put everything on the ground and have the lenses held securely in the compartments. Anyway, I've changed lenses so often using a backpack that I've become pretty proficient at it.

Lowepro is actually very good value for money. The asking prices for some of the Tamrac bags are ridiculous.

Here's a tip: you know how some of the bigger bags are actually trolley bags, to relieve the load on your shoulders? You can pop in to one of those DIY supply shops and buy a strap on trolley for your backpack for about $12. Works great (well, I'll tell you how great AFTER I get back from my trip).

i'm using a tamrac backpack... do not know what's the model... bought it from p&g at adelphi for $20.. a well used 2nd hand bag but the most used bag for me.. i guess convenience is more for me.. maybe got more money can buy the crumpler .. which i read from this thread can put laptop and cam..

It should cost $35-40 at CP.
Pretty useful when coupled with 2-3 lens cases as it allows you to move ard without a camera bag. For events, I move ard with it and 3 lens cases(2 with lens and 1 empty) so that I can do swaps without holding on to any lens.

However, don't load it down with anything more than a 2kg worth of lenses or it will start feel uncomfortable. For heavier loads, add the S&F vest for better weight distribution. Some may find it a bit odd looking however....

I started to work out again and have my weekend swims since 8 weeks ago. Also need to clear IPPT lar. :bsmilie: Find that my approx 5-8km treks for bird shooting is not so siong anymore. Equipment is not very heavy, just 1kg of water, 50-500, D70, flash, Slik 500DX + 488RC2.

I use a shoulder bag coz even the Lowepro AW II is too hot.

So i guess physical condition plays a part is another way to go. Good for health too.
