Second hand RX100 mkI, should do the trick.

you current HP camera works best for those. :)

Unless she has a very old cellphone, I agree with lewissac. Already comes with built-in wifi, internet connectivity, apps for editing and seamless upload, etc.

If really keen on a separate PNS camera, suggest bringing the person down to a store and trying everything within the budget, to see if there's anything they really like. For casual users, the look and feel will matter just as much as features/specs (which will be more or less similar across the board anyway).

she don't have a smart phone?
since she know noting much about photography, why need to buy a camera just for this?

Samsung k zoom. It is a real camera phone with 10x optical zoom.

Sign line around less than 400. Then sell the free Samsung tab 3 for 100.

She could buy a cheap P&S that is easy to use and save $250 for when she is overseas. Depending upon where she is going she might want to wait until she arrives there.

I think the current Canon or Sony PnS models do fall within $350. Will look at them as a start.

Agreed with handphone too, save the $350

For kids, you have to be a little cautious, as she may not like what you pick, and most have got peculiar taste, and she may not want to use it.

Anyway, played with a few Canon Ixus 2xx before, Stylish, compact, ease of use and pretty good images, cannot be too wrong with those.
