It has a shorter focal length at the wide end, giving it a 4x optical zoom instead of the 3x on the C-5050z, but the lens is now slower at F2.8; the C-5050z is F1.8.

and it's not even constant f/2.8, it's a nikon-like lens at 2.8 dropping to 4.8! but now it goes wider at 27mm equiv... but so what?
