Hi Folks,
first time I am into a photography forum...

need advice on whether to buy D50 or D70s....

Cos currently in dilemma on which to buy.

hope to get replies =)

many prosumers "upgrade" straight to DSLR and regret
it is a different monster all together.

what are your considerations?

Do you already have memory cards?
if yes, SD or CF cards?

interesting to hear this.

possible to share on why is this so ?
why after they upgrade , they regret ?

cheers !

Too heavy, too bulky, too big, so many new things to control, must buy different lenses to do different things.

If budget is a problem, D50, else D70S.

Actually D50 to me is a totally different league from D70S, apart from the 3DMM II on the D50, I don't think it wins D70S in any other matter eg, sensor, the number of 3D MM pixels used for the sensor (1005 on D70/S) and also controls/size/feel and storage options.

Cheers.

on a prosumer, taking a good picture is so much easier
normally when you upgrade a P&S to a better P&S the pictures would get better.

but on a DSLR once the image is downloaded and displayed on a computer screen

Post processing, underexposure, dust, custom curves, camera shake ... ...

The point with a DSLR is that you want total control over the images. It's true that post-processing plays an important part in digital workflow. You can't avoid it. Even on the D2X, it's near accurate but still post processing helps further.

On a DSLR you also achieve easier DOF and bokeh as compared to DC. Sharpness, image quality, contrast, details also surpass that of DC.

was using a prosumer all along and the first time I lay my hands on a DSLR, I get MUCH BETTER images. the amt of creative control afforded by the lens, viewfinder and larger CCD was the big leap for me.

why ah? :dunno:

so the statement that you get better images easiy with P&S is not necessarily true. maybe depends on individual's needs. and who say you get blur images when using DSLR vs P&S? the opp to me is true.

to me, postprocessing is a must if you want optimal results no matter whether you are using DSLR or P&S.

Hahahaha... i also did not, actually my Pentax *ist DS is smaller than my previous Panasonic Lumix FZ20 with Payhee adaptor, uv guard etc.

Hmmm how abt using the low end DSLRs on Auto mode.. now you have a P&S... :bsmilie:
