Bumboat panning

Following the oft said advise: shoot more, I went out yesterday ....to shoot more haha. I thought of panning bumboats, but I have no idea the challenge it poses. See, they move pretty slow(relatively)which means I have to drag the shutter(speed) longer...ok no prob, I got my cam mounted on a tripod, no big deal. Well the big deal is that once I trigger the shutter I can't see s*** thru the cam....(wonder whether the Sony Alpha 9 would black out...hmmmm...but can't afford it haha)

At half a second, I still can get barely passable shot but the background isn't blurred enough

I needed to up the shutter speed to 1.3s to get a more acceptable blur on the bg, but then the bumboat suffer from "double image" look :(

after many tries, I went to grab some makan, listen to some music at Esplanade then I thought hey do night panning of the boats...
