Hi, may I know is there anywhere I can find budget hotel in beijing? Planning to go there during CNY. Thanks

I stayed at Rosedale Hotel Beijing, around SGD90 per day nett but must take a cab to go to the city (around RMB40 if ).

rent a cheap room/apartment than staying in a hotel if you need some accomodation for a month

Try these websites:

http://ctrip.com
http://mangocity.com

Besides hotels, they have good domestic air ticket deals. I did use ctrip and got some pretty good deals on the air tickets.

Any way to find those? Actually I prefer staying in a hotel but trying to find out the cheapest rate that.

I think the cheapest is Motel 168. They operate like Hotel 81 here with hotels all over the cities.

How about trying those budget accomodation booking sites such as http://www.hostelworld.com . I personally booked and stayed in a budget hotel for my trip to Vietnam 2 weeks ago. Such websites gives me a whole new meaning of budget accomodation. But do check your maps on Google Maps and Google Earth Satellite images for a better understanding of the distance and location of these "hotels" that you are booking. Online reviews by those who stayed in these budget hotels are also very important.

Haha, I actually plan to take train to shanghai. But if the air ticket price is good, I will travel by air

The night sleeper trains are pretty competitive as well and the new trains are very comfortable with the high-speed bullet trains in services soon. They are more likely to be cheap as well, considering that a better environment of a soft sleeper class train vs the economy class plane seats. The time is also not wasted much as the journey is done as night. Substantial savings on the hotel as well.

Hmm . . I have not been to China during CNY, but wouldn't it get pretty quiet like Singapore and Hong Kong?

But I suppose each cabin is shared with other people as well. I kind of worry of theft...

For those who can read chinese, I discovered this china budget airline (spring airlines http://www.china-sss.com )2 days ago. Their prices are very cheap! BUT .... they presently only accept China domestic issued cards and our credit cards are not accepted yet. But I assume you can always buy via a travel agent/vendor when you reach China. This gives you an extra option besides train and long distance bus.

jing an hotel in beijing. search google maps for jing an hotel. It's in the chaoyang district, 3rd ring road. i'm on vacation and was there for a week before i upgraded to st regis lol. it's good; free internet, decent room but you gotta deal with no wardrobe and a poorly designed bathroom ( that is quite common in beijing where the floor slopes towards the door so that all the water seeps out when you shower). Other than that I'd say it's very much worth the S$40 per night.

Stayed this hotel 1 month ago. Location was good, it's just opposite silk market chang an street. 10-15min walking distance to Yong An Li subway. But of cos, shopping malls quite a distance if u walk. Clean and new, paid sg 55 per night after some neg.

3 more websites for you.

http://www.998.com - this is a motel chain recommended by my colleague who frequent China.

http://www.motel168.com - As recommended by one of our members above. I stayed in one of its motel in Shanghai earlier this year. Room is clean and good except it has thin walls. ;p Prices start from RMB168.

http://www.motel268.com - Sister chain of the 168. Think its a higher class motel for business travellers.

I think you have more than enough choices by now. Have a wonderful trip!

The cabins are very comfy.
