Hi everyone, I'm going on a 7d trip to Brisbane, and didn't find any previous thread in this section on the destination. Does anyone have advice on where could be good photographic opportunities over there? I do not have any itinerary at the moment. Thank you.

what kind shots were u hoping for ? u can get some great street/candid stuff in the fortitude valley. theres some nice rock formations along kangaroo point. the sunset view of the city from southbank is really nice

South Bank area is good. You can try climbing the Story bridge. And of course, go to Gold Coast hehe

I liked this place known as the glasshouse mountains, which are about 70km north of Brisbane, towards the coast.
The rocks seem to rise out of the otherwise flat land. Quite bizzare...
If the lighting is good, worth a visit for photo opps.

gold coast is nice too.
Weather's getting cold over there though. When u going?

I think the weather in Brisbane is not really a concern. The winter is not cold and the summer isn't that hot either (well, I am comparing to the weather in Sydney/Melbourne) :D

Hi everyone,

Thanks a lot for your pointers, now I have some starting points. Southbank, gold coast, fortitude valley, kangaroo point all sound interesting, I will see how I can fit these into itinerary.

I am going in June. I am open to all types of shots, but it would be even better if there is a scenic landmark, cultural quirks (scenes or portraits) or festival or attraction to catch.

Thanks again!

The river along south bank (Brisbane river) has a good view, take the CityCat Transport which is basically a ferry that runs along the river from bank to bank, good way to get some nice pics.

Other places nearby: Brisbane City (Casino, shopping), QUT Gardens Point (University campus with nice buildings and has a park on its side which is along the river as well) .

Along your way to Gold Coast, you might want to stop at Harbour Town for some shopping:

Gold Coast beach is beautiful almost at any part of it :)

For Fortitude Valley, might be worth taking more caution especially at night, otherwise its a good visit as well.

check out the photo club at brisbanephotography.com, they have friendly members and you will find out better photo opportunities from their locals.

Hi Mate...there ain't many things to do in Brisbane. Take it from me and that's why I prefer to live in Perth. But since you're set to go, a few places you could consider:

(1) Walk around the city. You can cover it all in a day. The suburbs are just like any other Aussie city.
(2) Check out the Steve Irwin's Zoo. The experience is unique not unlike what you see in Mandai.
(3) Head out to Sunshine Coast. The white sandy beaches will stretch for miles and miles and the waves form a good backdrop for your pictures.
(4) There's Warner Bros Movie World not far from Brisbane.
(5) Sea World is another attraction with many good photo opportunities.
(7) Pineapple farm just outside the city.
(8) Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

Get a 3 wheel Harley for a city tour. Cost about $160. Call them at 0423-757-272.

Hope that helps.
