is this allowed?
not phantom of the opera type, but more of canto pop concerts.

what about monopods?i intend to get the nearest seat to stage.
but i would like to shoot half bod or full face.

oh, i was referring to jacky cheung's concert staging in sgp in july.

IIRC, most concerts won't allow you to bring in those. in fact, usually no photography or video recording is allowed.

however, you might be able to smuggle in a pns depending on your luck.

sure can. just be prepared for the weird looks.

PNS is ok. Last Dec I managed to bring in during Sandy Lam concert. All bags have to be checked.

BUT didn't get any usable pic.

PNS?
then i would rather forget it.sit back, enjoy the concert.

you mean photography also not allowed?i tot only videography not allowed.

when i went for the snow wolf lake concert in 2005, they also checked bags...but end of concert, i saw at least a million flashes.
but i really wonder what the point is.having a pns and sitting so far back.what's there to shoot?

so, back to question.
d200 + sb800 + 300 f2.8 + monopod.
can or cannot?:dunno:

you need a fast lens with fast ISO
leave the monopod at home
bring a WA as well
leave the flash at home too

300 f2.8 i really dont think it's that light to hand hold it without monop.

ya...on second tots, i'll leave the flash at home.

300 2.8?havent buy.that's why i'm asking now.if can bring then i buy.
if cant bring, i buy liao, confirm sit inside my dricabi.
100%.

got VR why need monopod?
Anyway I think the 300 f2.8 is too big if you are shooting from your seat
will block other ppl watching

70-200 without the hood
300 f4
or your 70-300 VR + high ISO
better to have noisy pictures than no pictures at all

i bought it and used it once only.and has been sitting in dricabi ever since.

that's the problem.i dont want these headrocking action shots.
i want jacky's face pin sharp, though i dont mind taking a few shots like these.

I will go for the 70-200VR, since you are getting the nearest seat. 70 will give you the wide angle option. It'll be nice to be able to take some shots of the whole stage during the performance. If you really want a monopod, there are some compact model that folds down short.

I am not sure whether camera equipment is allowed. I've never been to one with my camera (I've only own a camera for 5 months... I am a newbie). If it is not allowed, you might need a bag that is discrete to bring in your stuff. And your stuff needs to fit into this bag.
