The headline in Today's paper (3rd Jan 2007) quote our PM that people
of different faiths must reach out and get to know each other. I think
it is still not to late for such a request though it should have been some
ten years ago.
Now, looking at the various faiths I can only think of ten namely:
Islam, Buddhism, Catholic, Taoism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism,
Judaism, Confucianism and other Christianity such as Methodist,
Angelican etc. There are still other faiths such as Bahai Faith,
Unification Church and Zoroastrianism.
The time to call more more harmony among living human beings
is right especially in Singapore as Ven Chin Kung age 79 put it:
"Singapore is the first country to attain religious harmony and serves
as a very good role model to the rest of the world".
He even suggest that we should set up an educational institution
of higher learning where students from all over the world can come
together to study and compare the teachings of other faiths.
Well, the Americans have done it and some of our secondary schools
have also gone into the basics of the various faiths. What are
your views on the above?
