Hi fellow nikonians

need help regarding filters
is that black/white filters in the market to help in taking b/w pics?
if there is then does it looks different than those edited by ps?

I use dark red and green/yellow filters for b&w photos. Brings out contrast and skin tones.

of course we are talking about film here... if digital, no need to use any filters

there is no filter that produces a black and white image out of what is originally color. either you use b/w film, or use photoshop... in the case of b/w film, the filters that were earlier recommended may be used to improve contrast etc... those fiilter techniques may be duplicated in photoshop as well.. cheers.

yellow filter most common for b+w film
red next most common, then green

Photoshop creates some effect
but if you shot b+w film with filter, the original neg is the unadulterated source.
