Hi, my in-law have offer me a shop space in Chinatown, the old market ground floor with the old hawker center on top. I'm still wondering what business to begin with. I'm looking at 2 choice now,

1) to sell pet stuff and small pets.

2) to have a mini digital photolab that offer Film scanning, IC size photo taking, CD-ROM burning etc but i don't have the equipt. I will take a look at the shop first later this week when i make my decision and then will take exact measurement before to decide what kind of photographic service i will like to begin.

I was hoping to start a mini studio but need to find out how big is the space first. so can u guys here who r interested offer me some idea? i'm looking at a partnership that to come out as minimum startup cost as possible as i already have a full time well paid job so this will be a sideline where i will come on weekend or evening. so my partner needs to be here full time with my wife or brother(he's a videographer for a quite new local TV channel) as assistance. REMEMBER, objective is as little startup cost as possible so looking for those who already own equipt but no space. I myself is a Photographer by hobby, a digital-color specialist and designer as a profession. I know a great deals in printing process and color seperation.So no worries workin with me.

Keepin my options open... let me know and we can work out a deal that will focus to a mininum lost if things goes bad.

just offering some ideas...

mayb you could take some picture of the surroundings, den the shop space.. so as to know the target group? cos the old market ground floor... hmm... my mind now swivel around the wet market there... if not then mayb the one behind the old majestic cinema...

need to see whether the surrounding have similar shops or the competition is strong anot.

as the population becomes more tech savy, making profits from a minilab will become harder. The pie shrinks while the number of competitors remain the same. You will probably partner with Kodak, Fuji or Konica, the full set of equipment would cost upward of $150,000.

You must have a special appeal to make people come to you. Otherwise, your choice of business should be heavily based on the what consumers at your location demands.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Also try to do something with a niche that not people are doing. Following everyone else would mean bigger competition=smaller share of the pie.

thanks for the view and feedback. you guys got a point. i'm cracking my head for an idea that will appeal to the niche market. but for now, i welcome any idea and view from you guys... I have not went down to take a look of the shop space yet but if going into this line, i'll need to seriously consider the security system that will need to be install in the shop. will keep u guys posted on the size of the shop soon and would be partner, dun be afraid to let your biz innovative mind run wild.

cheers. will be at the Firework display today... c ya!
