birding lens help

hi guys

i'll be going to the jurong bird park this weekend..

would like to know which of these 2 lenses is a better choice on a 1.3x cropper..
canon 70-200 f4L or tamron 200-400 f5.6?

is 200mm long enough or will the birds be quite far away?
cos i'm more concerned about the tamron's slower AF, softness n weight compared to the canon..

what aperture size to use? and any other valuable tips/pointers?

Basically a 70-200 f4L should be enough for JBP shots especially shooting in Waterfall aviary. During feeding time, you can get real close to those African birds.
But again, no harm bringing your T200-400 along if the weight is not a problem. I was there last mth, but regret that didn't bring my 70-200 along as I shot all with my T200-500 lens. (http://meerkat128.multiply.com/photos/album/93/Jurong_Bird_Park_2008)

As for tip/pointer, for certain areas like Jewels jungle and Birds of southeast asia, I would suggest to up your ISO as there is not enough light in those area.

Just bring 70-200f4L will do, cos those birdies are quite close and in cage or nets mostly, I've been there some 3 wks ago. if possible take along the flash. You need it difinitely.

shoot wide open. Too much depth will distract your viewers from your subject; unless of course, the background complements.

your welcome, you can try from F5.6 to f8 should able to get clear and shape picture

Was there a month ago and shot with only the 70-200mm. The birds are close enough but lighting can be low at some places. Do bring your tripod if possible.
