Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve, Pulau Ubin and Jurong Bird Park are some of the places recommended for bird watching.

Jurong Bird park. The best place to go... and the easiest to get good shots even without the massive and expensive gears... plus lots of restaurants, toilets, etc around.
