There are many uses for binos, watching theatre/concerts, bird watching, sailing etc. Some have compasses built in, some are very small for holding for long periods, some are designed for microcontrast (bird watching etc) in low light. Some are designed for heavy duty use with extensive waterproofing and impact resistance. So it depends on your budget and intended use.
I saw one shop at Peninsula selling Steiner binos, maybe you can have a look. I think its located on level 2.
I was swayed by this review and bought the Nikon Monarch 8x42. It is almost but not as good as the Swarovski, Zeiss or Leica equivalents but at about $400, it is great. Being a 42mm, it is really bright and the twilight factor is relatively high.
