BEWARE: New Carjacking Modus Operandi

This is a blog coming from a friend: Please pass it around and inform your love ones and friends about it.

Just last weekend on Friday night we parked in a public parking area. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home, it was a receipt for gas. Luckily my friend told me not to stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the car. Then we received
this email yesterday:

WARNING FROM POLICE THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MEN:
BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE -
A NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS

Heads up everyone!
Please, keep this circulating... You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into Reverse.

When you look into the rear view mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off . They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this email. I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.

Please keep this going and tell all your friends. Well...Some ppl like to drive into malaysia for shopping,so watch out man.
. I saw this and post it here. Pls pass around. Gong Xi Fa Cai..

Based on your last line, this is a new M.O in malaysia?

Plus, how could you not see the paper if your car is parked face-first and you approach it from the back?

As far as i know, this is not new ... its been around for some years already. For those who sees the paper before entering the car, no opportunity for the crook ... but for those who did not see the paper.. they would have started the car and looking to reverse or move off .. upon seeing the paper blocking their view whilst reversing, chances are that they would get out and remove the paper .. this is when the culprit would strike.. dash into the car and drive off ....

Nothing new in Malaysia.
Just look at how many Singapore bikes/cars were stolen.
Malaysia, Truely Asia.

this was an old trick which the bad boys wont use anymore.

when they strike, you wont even know its coming. the easiest to stop singaporeans is to bang their vehicles. they will surely come out of their car. i know of several people from msia would just drive off and claim insurance later. it is not worth risking their car or people in the car for a mere RM$300 paint job.

there are many ways for them to get to your wheel. some ways to deter them is

not to be greedy
not to be petty
not to be kind
not to be rude
not to be flashy

Thousands of Singaporeans still goes to Malaysia everyday.

Hope that this will deter more Singaporeans going to Malaysia so that the causeway will not be jammed.:bsmilie:

As long as Sing dollar is stronger than Ringgit, people will still go in.
But what they do not know is the risk behind for saving a few dollars. :dunno:

Is it worth it to get your vehicles stolen?
Is it worth it to get robbed?
Or worse, if you go in with your gf/wife, is it worth the risk of them getting raped?

There are reports of those mat rempits targeting Singapore couples.
Whack the guys, humiliate the girls.

hmm....i wonder....then why a lot singaporeans still go there?

It's not just about the dollars, there are Singaporeans visiting their relatives, many Singaporean have the Malaysia my second home programme and other activities.

You don't read about the thousands of Singaporeans having a good time in Malaysia, only the negative part.

There's no ferry service to Indonesia to bring your car or motorcycle.

True. So have to be careful if intending to go in Malaysia.
Best to go in groups. :D

as much as i'd like to be careful.i know i can never be too careful.

but i think thats the charm in malaysia, knowing its alot grittier across the cause way....i mean once it a while ,i'd like it RAW and WILD..makes it interesting.and alot of tourists share this sentiment...

if i wanted it sanitized and safe,i'm better of here in s'pore
