Hi,

I heard/read this somewhere (can't remember exactly) that using a yellow filter will make your B&W prints look better. Is this true ?

If it is true, then will I also benefit from the (whatever) effects if I shoot on colour film and convert directly to B&W using photo editing software ?

Thanks.

A yellow filter increases contrast. Any coloured filter when used on black and white film will lighten its own colour and darken its complement. Using a red filter will give you very dark dramatic skies as it really darkens the blue.

I have no idea about how it would look using photoshop on an originally coloured film.
