carry a nice empty toilet roll with you. fold it and put it in your bag. when need to view. take it out and use.

Not sure it works but can give it a try.

I learnt on Mythbusters that the reason why pirates wear eyepatches is so that they can go below deck where its dark and still be able to fight or walk around by closing the 'bright' eye. The covered eye will be conditioned to see in the dark.

Maybe this can be applied to viewing LCD screens :think:
