Best Value Compact P&S <$600

Hi everyone,

I am looking to get a new P&S compact camera under $600 .of course cheaper better lah.
current camera coolpix 995 (bought in 2002) strong & rugged.
Would like to get a new camera, smaller in size, tough and good for travelling use.
Don't mind 8-9m pixel, I guess 5m is good enough.
Please recommend a range of such P&S, thanks for your great help.

I would recommend the F11. Probably the best low-light P&S camera money can buy for now.

I second the fuji F11. If you want to wait.. can wait for fuji F30. both are award winners.

U want smaller size, and good for travelling, then I can suggest Panasonic FX9 (abt $600), the unique feature is it has image stabilizer, which will reduce handshake problem.

just a question does any compact today still use Compact Flash Card?

Any user for canon A620??look quite rugged to me??

Those compact that use Compact Flash card are more bulky, and may not meet your requirement of "small size".

There is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS2 coming out maybe middle of March, $300++ only. 5.0mp, Mega O.I.S (which means image stabiliser).
