I've never been for acupuncture so I was interested in finding out what acupuncture is specifically effective for (what kind of problems does acupuncture help)
any insight?

hahaha so i am not recommending

Can anyone recommend a place to go for acupuncture for nerve related pains?

I am not sure how severe your condition is.... i had a relative who had bone pressing on nerve. The pain was so extreme... Went GH, gave a large bag of panadol!

Then someone recommended a specialist. Spent $10k to do a balloon treatment. its a pin hole surgery.... the balloon expanded the bone away from touching the nerve... It was a miracle! After 7hrs, can go shopping liao!

Somehow, bone/nerve problems often correlates back to our postures. Even doing pilates can help correct such injuries.... Acupuncture may not help much sometimes... But you can always try... It aint expensive and is clinically safe.

If you ask the ladies,,,many would reply do Yoga.

but for those whose shoulders or back really hurt, might want to try cupping. However cupping is just step 1, if the physicians see the affected color is very severe after cupping..they might advise to bleed out the bad blood.

recently tried thai shoulder massage but i still find chinese massage though hurts like heck gives faster relief.

I went for acupuncture today at Eu Yan Sang based on the recommendation here.
I have to say it was easier than expected. They're quite modern and it's at B2 Plaza Sing.
after a checkup I had the acupuncture needles poked into me...it was surprisingly not painful except one or two that seemed to be pushed deeper than the others. but tolerable enough that I would go again.
Then she hooked me up to some electrical pulse machine...it was an odd feeling.
After about 20 minutes we were done and they gave me some powder medicine to eat. We'll see how I feel over the next few days.

There is a form of TCM who uses the physician's Qi energy to do healing. He would poke one super long needle onto a point between your front two knuckles. The needle hurts as he will keep pushing deeper and deeper about two inches deep at least. Then he just walk about, chatting to the group of patients, doing his own things.... Yes, he heals 5 to 8 people at one go and not all need to start at same time. Treatment is very cheap, but i am not sure if it worked for me. however, my banker friend got healed from a neck pain after one treatment. He said it was due to her posture in walking and he said he will correct the way she walk without her even knowing!~

But i dont feel much diff after that. Maybe some works some dont...

Yeah many treatment is a hit or miss, accupucture included.
That is why we keep looking for the one that is suitable
