Hi all,

While browsing online, saw the above gadget that turns your DSLR into a ''makeshift LF camera''.

1) Any seniors here tried this before, pros and cons?

2) Any alternatives for this Horseman brand (its ex, confirm)...?

3) Can marco extension bellow be converted like that?

Any informations are appreciated...

Thanks :)

You need a large format camera with that mounting system. Also, pay particular attention to post #10 which highlights pros and cons.

The coverage of lf lenses are for an area of 4x5 INCHES (in this instance). A DSLR's sensor is XX x YY MILLIMETERS. From there, calculate the massive crop factor of such a set-up.

I'm not sure. Have to search. Try e-bay for knock-offs. But still, you'll need a large format system as a chasis.

3) Can marco extension bellow be converted like that?

Short answer: Not easily and might not end up cheaper or cheap at all.

What would you like to achieve?

A digital-capable large format system?

A digital tilt and shift system?

A digitial tilt and shift... Yes...

Allowing more options beside a TS lens...

You might want to contact agape1 and seek his findings, especially if the experienced crop factor poses problems in coverage and movement. ;)

I suspect a medium format back or a scanback would provide more versatility and much better results.
