Erm.... D5000 and 1000D are not in the same league both in price n specs....

D5000 is more like a head to head competition for 500D instead. Anyway, dun worry so much. Juz shoot:thumbsup:

Anyway, IMO, Nikon's interface is a little harder to master than Canon's..... But, well, it's my own opinion, so no worries.

Thanks. I should not think too much. Because technology changes faster than my pocket. HAHAHA... Do anyone know how much does a extra battery cost? Third party one good?

i suggest you do not use third party unless you really broke.
not so sure abt the price.
try calling up shops for the price.
should be within $100 i think

Thanks. Do I have to buy filters too?.

Is polarizer filter really required?

How much does it cost compared to normal filters ?
(comparing polarizing filter with a normal filter of the same brand)

It is not REQUIRED.
its really up to you if you want to use it.

ehmm. this is when the search function comes in very handy in CS or google.
just by searching Polarizing Filter in google you can find ur answer as to it's function.
http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/polarizers.shtml

you can search in the marketplace.
they do sell filters and you can compare there.
i am doing the search for you because you are new here with 3 posts.
next time do it yourself ok? hahahaha

the acronym CPL is used for polarizers (circle polarizers)
i do not really understand what you mean by normal filter! i am just gonna assume it's the UV filter you are talking about.
do the comparison yourself.

Oh.. ok. Thanks a lot.

I do mean UV filters.. :D

Hi everyone, just got my 1st DSLR today. Canon EOS 1000D, hope I did not make a wrong choice. I have some questions to ask from you all.

1) Which dry cabinet should I buy?
2) Will dry cabinet consume high eletricity?
3) Where to buy?

Lastly, my mind is so blank now that I do not know what to do with my camera. It is now still laying in the box. Can someone advise me please. Thank you so much.

You could get the Akarui Dry Cabin. from Cathay or Harvey Norman (recently just started bringing in).

Would be nice to start off shooting landscape or scenery. Places like the zoo? Or maybe bontanic gardens? I'd head to places where there's lots of colours. Makes shots interesting.

Mmm,

i simply put a UV filter just for the sake of protecting my lens :D
Otherwise, the filter to me serves no purpose. Haha.

Well the thing is rather heavy, so the floor should be best. And try to keep it somewhere shaddy, not opposed to sunlight. My dry box is under the table so yup pretty much shaded ..
