Any suggestion on el cheapo bean bags and sand bags that one can use as camera support on irregular but elevated surfaces? I went to one camera shop (that also sell accessories) and asked them and they stare back blank "got such things one meh?"

thats how camera accessories manufacturers make so much money

go to your sock drawer, use an old sock and fill it up with beads, beans, rice , husks, barley etc etc and sew it up

or use a big bag of M&M chocolates .... can eat it later when hungry :)

So if you need something for more rugged conditions (Safari, mountain trekking), the only option is make your own?

not the only option........ but the cheapest and most convenient options ....

Toys r Us sells bean bags if you really must pay money for one

Yes, BHPhoto has one that's zippered, and it's almost 50 USD....

Ah, didn't know Toys r Us has them. thanks!

My mother can make one for you.
Since its artisan crafted with loving care and hand made. It will cost $500 each. We can also accommodate your labeling needs. We can put LV, Canon, Nikon, Gucci, Polo, etc on the exterior to your preferences
:D

Lol, bean bag, just go get a small pillow case; cut out the pocket from an old jeans leaving a flap, etc to make one. Fill it with beans/rice or leave it empty and fill on location.

fill it with silica gels?
then use it as drying agent in your carrier later?
