Shriro Singapore (Hasselblad) is proud to present - Be There - a series of photography talks by some of the most prolific shooters in town.

Each one of them, a specialist in his chosen genre, will share his secrets and philosophy.

From May 2004 to March 2005, these bi-monthly talks will all be held at SAFRA Club.

i'm going for the archi talk by Mr Albert Lim.

booking through the webpage will be required, because they only have 120 seats available every session. it's a first come first serve basics i reckon.

like what SniperD said, this is really a must go.. rare chance these reputable photographers will come up and share their experiences.

definitely i'll try to turn up for the rest of the sessions, but i'll have to see my NS camp schedule..

Architecture is a specialised field, slightly different from those taking buildings for its pattern or artistic view. Guess that's why no good questions. But I noticed some architects attended. Not sure why they want to know how photographers shoots their building?

attended it and was quite a good talk. he managed to get me to a deeper level into architecture photography.. but it's rather brief, and Mr Albert Lim only showcase his works and did his explanation from there, not much tips for me to pick up, but at least those that explained are useful techniques. but like what zekai said, there was really lack of constructive question. only a handful of more enthuastic people are more open to questions and answers.

but hey, to those who attended, the piece of DI (digital imaging) work which made all of us think like mad is simply awesome.. don't u think so?

i was sitting right at the front row. can see the projection quite clearly. but i must admit that the details are way too small (like the belly button) to be observe carefully when view from a LCD projector.

here is a guy who has shown his work(fabulous i must say!!).. he's waiting for anyone to shoot questions and what do we have 'silence'..i did manage to get what i wanted...(may not be constructive to you guys!! too bad..) open up the next time.. and ask whatever u want..there is nothing to feel ashamed or embarassed about... everyone is learning ..all the time...

Its not surprising why some architects are interested in photgraphy as well since both disciplines have much in common. Architecture also deals with lighting, composition and other aesthetic aspects. Photography is an important skill for architects to pick up as they are required to do documentations for their projects for both archival and presentation/portfolio purposes. When you need to sell an idea, a well prepared portfolio makes a whole world of difference. Some architecture firms do provide photography services for their clients(if they need it) after the project is completed.

Also, why is shooting buildings for pattern and artistic view different from the so called "architecture photography"? Its all about bringing out the qualities of the subjects you are shooting with images. If the building has some interesting patterns, lines, etc, they can be included in publications. Some people shoot buildings for documentation purposes, others developed an eye for spotting patterns in a more "artistic" manner. These don't have to be mutually exclusive.

all the "genre" of photography are similar and are interlink. for example architecture photography do helps a outdoor portrait photographer if he wants to do a urban shot. he knows how to catch certain angles whilst playing with the lines and fall-in lightings.
