I do too, would love to visit the islands in the Pacific involved in the Second World War, not too much the fronts in Europe though. Ah, Arizona Memorial as well.

Sadly it'll have to wait :(

The only place i visited is "Hell Fire Pass" at Thailand, not really a battlefield.

Taken at Hiroshima when I was there in 2003. A-bomb dome. This is what remain after the detonation of the Atomic bomb.

Hiroshima, though not sure if its considered a battle field per se. But I must say the on-site museum was pretty good and exceeded my expectations.

For Pacific areas, Okinawa is one of my listing,
the cost (air ticket and hotel) would be around $1500 per person.

Something to think about, thanks :D

Want to visit Midway, Peleliu and maybe Guadalcanal. Wonder how to get there though. Probably ferry from a larger island.

i heard Europe is good for WW2 sites visit. Russia actually left a lot of tanks and artillery pieces untouched at Kursk. For Normandy.. the D-DAY bunkers and big guns are still there. The best will be Eagle Nest, Wolf Lair ... which many still intact.

Yea, in Vienna, WWII german anti air fort still stands in park when I was there.

there is also a German U-Boat base in France, think it is called Brest, the super-structure is still there and the U-Boats actually moored inside, protected from air raids.

Not sure about Peleliu.

For Midway, will need to transit via Hawaii.

For Guadalcanal, will need to transit via Sydney I believe.

There's no monument or anything to commemorate any battles in both Kota Bahru (near my mom's hometown) or Slim River (my dad's childhood residence).
