How is that so? Im using 7D and have rent 70-200mm bt the weight is impossible for me.. mayb its just meBattery grip is important when your lens is very heavy and you need to balance the weight, or when shooting for extended periods of time (like long events, weddings etc). For normal travel use, battery grip is not needed unless you are using a 70-200 f2.8 on an entry level camera.
Yup i agree mayb its good for portrait shootIt's important if you use it during your trip and not impt if you don't. It's very subjective. If you find your camera's grip too small for you to hold comfortably or you shoot in portrait a lot, then a battery grip is certainly important.
Ya its true.. always get looks from people and people often asked me what a big camera i have.Bring it if you are going to shoot at higher fps or lots of portraiture or need the extra battery for extended use. Otherwise, I'll suggest to leave it at home.
Of course there are some who have it to get that pro look.
Maybe portrait is good bt for travel i dont think so.. Its heavy bro..May i know why do you regret?
for me its a good investment, give me to take portrait without twisting my hand + can use AA battery (useful when travelling and battery gone flat) and more balance weight.
i have a batt grip however i always leave it at home when i travel overseas... i am using 7D with 24-70, and i understand about the balancing weight part... just that i dont want to add unnecessary weight to my already very heavy set up... besides, i always bring out the xtra batt on a trip so there is no need for me to worry about lack of power...
however, dont you guys find that with a grip, it gets into your way during landscape photography? like you will not be able to hold your lens properly by the lens... do you all have the same problem??
how important is a battery grip?

it's only get as important as how the user feel it is, if u can manage better without grip then why u wanna be told by other people which things to make u feel better
holiday with close friend & family nope cos i try to go as light as possible, incase it's a holiday trip with a photoshoot in the mix then yes
if u regret it then there u hve the answer already, u dun need it, why u wanna ask for other justification for...
