got .... very nice ...

if fill flash is used would be better :)

Hmm.. I like the exposure as it is. Maybe just a bounce card to create the catch light in her eyes. Nice shot!

Beautiful, superb DOF, some fill flash will really make the eyes alive

Wow.. very nice, brilliant choice of background and like the rest have said, a touch of fill-flash would definitely make this an even better shot!

Well done!!

But there are major changes you'll see there!

Maybe this Sat go there instead of BG......

yup nice picture. good background but needs just a little bit of fill. can nominate for PoTW. Waiting to see the first win for a bird photo ;)

A few points:

[1] You can't access lens quality from a small JPEG.
[2] Lenses, aside from some zoom lenses, haven't fundamentally changed in decades, let alone 10 years. A lot of existing lenses today, zooms or otherwise, have been around since 1992.
[3] A bigger difference would have been the quality of film, but again, you can't access this from a small JPEG.

It's no wonder lots of people end up with preconceived notions.

the flash probably will bring out the white feathers, but it may cause the yellow beak to look washed out. (maybe set the flash by -1 stop or so?)

ya .. from the pic , it looks very close to the eagle ... flash by -1 stop will be better

Well.. megaweb did mention fill-flash, and that includes what you have suggested. ;)

Actually, there's no way you can tell the distance the photographer is from the bird from the photo. extreme2 could have been using a 600mm lens to shoot this for all you know. :p

Thanks guys for the feedback.

Some technical info...

Camera : Nikon F801s
Lens: Nikon Nikkor AF 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 @ 300mm f5.6

Shutter Speed around 1/250... can't remember.

:)

I do have my SB-24 fixup but did not use it. The shoot was taken after the regular bird show.
