Hospitality experiences are not a must but enterprise and creativity are. This is not a big city place, so do lower the expectations. It is surrounded by nature and culture, so interests in these fields will help. Chinese experiences are preferred, especially flexibility and street smartness. He will get a local manager/fixer to help out, beside all the essential staff.
The draw of the place is exactly its culture, nature and location. It is a mature domestic holiday desination, but less exposure to the foreign travellers.
