All XS-Pro filters employ a newly developed mounting ring that is especially suited for SLRs with wide angle and zoom lenses. The extremely thin design prevents the mounting ring from vignetting in even the widest shots.
At 3mm thick it has a front thread for additional accessories such as lens caps or hoods. You can use "center-pinch" or "snap-on" caps with these filters.
All XS-PRO Digital mounts are made of Brass to prevent binding and are matte black to prevent reflections.
Filter mount is SLIM type called XS-PRO, which means slim mount with front thread. Material of XS-PRO mount is made of brass.
Coating is the new generation of B+W Digital MRC. It is more suitable for the latest CCD/CMOS technology.
Optical glass is thinner, which is 1.2mm from Schott. So more light can go through and less reflection it will be

Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun. Filter factor is between 2.3 and 2.8 (approx. +1.3 stops).
Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems) and video cameras. It does not influence the metering systems of these cameras.
Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting. MRC Coating (Multi-Resistant Coating) by B+W is not only an extraordinarily effective multiple layer coating, it is also harder than glass, so that it protects filters from scratches (for instance when cleaning the filters), and it is also water and dirt repellent, thus facilitating filter maintenance.
Made in Germany using high quality Schneider optical glass held in place by heavy duty brass rings, these filters are the epitome of quality.
Compared to the earlier B+W standard mount, The B+W Standard Filter Mount F-Pro has been improved considerably. While maintaining the excellent quality of materials, fabrication, and high mechanical stability, the new F-Pro mount has become thinner, so that now it can also be used on many wide-angle lenses without the danger of vignetting. Another advantage of the new F-Pro filter mount is its modified retaining ring, which is no longer threaded in from the front, but holds the filter glass in place from the back. This prevents the retaining ring from being accidentally loosened during the removal of an additional filter or a lens hood that has been screwed in too tightly.
