i am just trying to test the whether my camera focusing is working properly.

i using manual focus at center, 50mm f1.8.

i point at the "50mm" center point of focus(position around "0"). after that half press shutter release to auto focus, and take shot.

but the result is that "60mm" is much more in focus compared with 50mm..

any comment on this?
:)

What focusing mode are you using when in auto?

You should use Spot Focus when doing test like this.

There are generally 3 different modes:

1. Multi-point

2. Center Focus

3. Spot Focus

When testing for front/back focus issues:

mount ur camera on a tripod, set timer (or if u hv shutter release cable u can use that) to reduce vibrations.

If u handheld, it will not be accurate due to the extremely shallow DOF.

Have u mount your camera on tripod?

You would need to check, if all constraint is the same... also, do you press the shutter directly on your camera, or use a remote control? Because when you press directly on your camera, even if your camera is mounted, there might still be some movement in your camera.
