Hi Pentaxian,

Sharing with you some widefield Astrophotography taken with a Pentax cam.

Omega Centauri (The King of globular cluster)
Pentax K30
Sigma 70-300 DG OS @ 300MM F5.6
ISO 3200
18 X 6 Sec
Stacked with DSS.

this Image was taken in Singapore on a rather small Equatorial mount for testing before my trip.
Will be going up to Malaysia soon. If the skies are clear there will post more photos here.

Nice shot! Glad to see a Pentax cam being used for astrophotography in Singapore. Singapore is definitely not ideal for astrophotography due to heavy light pollution. Hope to see more photos from your Malaysia trip esp those by k30! :)

Thanks for sharing Makenshisita.
Omega is quite a nice naked eye object in Singapore...if the conditions are right!
Are you following Tasos or Singastro for your Obs trip? :)

@Jin TK : While Singapore is not an ideal place for astrophography, that does not mean you can't do it.
Check out the astrophotos taken by local amatuers here (some are taken in Singapore). Some are very good. :)

Follow photos taken with a Pentax K30 with an O-GPS unit with a Sigma 70-300MM.

Antares Rho Ophiuchi and M4

M8 and M20

M6 and M7

The O-Gps Unit with the K30 tracked the stars nicely even at 300MM.

Hi Philip,

normally for the Canikons, even for other brand like Sony which has the stabilizer as well, you would need something called an equatorial mount to track the stars.
normally, equatorial mount are much heavier and a lot of time needed to spend on Align an Equatorial Mount.

Here is how an Equatorial Mount would look like vs a normal tripod.
