M51 is located approx 30-37 million light years distant from our Galaxy.

M 51 is actually 2 galaxies in collision. The HST has detected a possible black hole at the centre of the larger galaxy.

I don't recall any images of galaxies in collision with a blackhole, plenty of images of suspected blackholes inside galaxies such as Cent.A etc.
