The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) invites photographers to participate in On the Go, a photo competition celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM. The competition is now open for entries and will run until 6th of September 2015.

On the Go's theme is the motion and the pace of life in Asia and Europe, illustrating the moments where we are different -- and yet so alike.

Two winners will be selected by a distinguished and an additional winner will be selected by online voting. The winning entries will be included in various international exhibitions and will be awarded with an artistic residency at LASALLE College of the Arts, as well as published in an exclusive photo book. We will be adding even more to that, so stay tuned for more updates on the prizes!

Competition Rules

Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) (hereinafter referred to as “the Organiser”), in partnership with LASALLE College of the Arts (LASALLE) and City of Luxembourg (City of Luxembourg) invites eligible participants (each a “Participant”) to submit original photographs (each an “Entry”) based on the theme of the ASEF Photo Exhibition On the Go (hereinafter referred to as “the Competition”), which is perceptions of motion.
The exhibition’s content of 23 photographs will be sourced through an online photo competition, which will run on the contest website.
Winning entries and a further selection of 20 photos will be showcased in an exhibition alongside the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM FMM) in November in Luxembourg.
Photos shortlisted for the exhibition and a further selection of 30 photos will be published in a photo book. The publication will be widely circulated at ASEF events all over Asia and Europe.
On the Go is being organised as a lead-up to the 20th Anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in 2016.
The exhibition will be designed and curated in such a way that it will allow other countries in Asia and Europe to host it.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be an eligible participant of the photo competition On the Go, applicants MUST meet the following requirements:
Be a national of one of the ASEM member countries.
Be able to provide an eligible proof of one of the abovementioned nationalities. Participants who fail to do so will be disqualified.
Be at least 18 years of age at the time of submission.
Submission Rules
Only online entries will be eligible.
Submit a photo in digital format which meets the criteria set out in the Submission Guidelines below. No print or video submissions will be accepted
Entry is limited to original works that have not formerly been published and to which the participant holds all applicable rights.
Works that have won prizes in other contests or that have been submitted to other contests currently underway are not eligible. Works that are entered in other competitions after submitting to this contest will not be eligible.
A maximum of 3 photos are allowed per participant.
No participant may win more than one prize.
Submitting a photo to the competition is free of charge.
To be able to participate in the Competition, registration will be carried out online at the content website.
All registrations to the Competition shall be submitted online in the prescribed form. All required information must be duly completed (including all the required particulars of each Participant).
All digital files must be 14 megabytes or smaller, must be in JPEG or .jpg format, and must be at least 2,000 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 2,000 pixels tall (if a vertical image).
Minimum resolution of 300 DPI is required.
The standard colour space for the judging process is sRGB.
By submitting an entry, the contestant confirms that he/she owns the right to all her/his photo(s), including intellectual property, and that the rights of a person or persons included in her/his photo(s) (subject) have not been violated.
The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the competition participant. By entering the competition, the participant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the participant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph.
The photograph must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
Entries depicting violence, racism, pornography, or any other issues that stand against ASEF values will result in immediate disqualification.
Only captions in English will be accepted for the entry to the competition.
Disguising or misrepresenting the origin of the content is cause for disqualification.
Judging
All submitted entries will be uploaded onto the contest website.
The Organisers reserve the right not to make public any Entry that does not deem to be eligible or of the desired quality.
The jury panel of photographic experts (“Judges”) will select entries from among all eligible entries based on the following criteria (“Judging Criteria”): (1) Creativity 50%; (2) Photographic quality 50%.
Winners will be chosen in late September and will be notified by email.
All work that has been submitted and made public will be subject to online voting by the audience.
All persons are eligible to vote for the audience award. Everyone is limited to 1 vote.
The Jury reserves the right not to select any winning entry if none of the entries are deemed to be of the desired quality and standard.
The Jury reserves the right to disqualify any Participant if it has reasonable grounds to believe that such Participant is in breach of any of the rules relating to the Competition.
Decisions of the Judges are final and binding. No correspondence, enquiries, appeals, verbal or written, pertaining to the final results shall be entertained.
Exhibition
An exhibition will be held of all 3 awarded works and a further selection of 20 photos.
The official exhibition opening is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, 4th November 2015 in Luxembourg.
Data Privacy
Entrants agree that personal data, especially name and address, may be processed, shared, and otherwise used for the purposes and within the context of the Competition and any other purposes outlined in these Competition Rules.
This personal data will be used by the Organiser for the following purposes:
managing the relationship between the participants and ASEF;
communicating with participants, the winner and runners-up, and arranging delivery of the winner’s prize;
marketing and publicity in accordance with the Publicity section below.
The data may also be used by the Organiser in order to verify the entrant's identity, postal address, and telephone number or to otherwise verify the entrant's eligibility to participate in the Competition.
Participants can exercise their rights to access their personal data held by the Organiser and withdraw their consent to the processing of their personal data by sending a request to info@asef.org.
Entrants agree that their images or likenesses may be taken during the exhibition launch, workshop or other similar publicity event. Images taken during these events may be used by the Organiser for publicity purposes in relation to their participation in the Competition.
Publicity and license
The Organiser intends to publish the names and photographs of selected participants on its websites and social media pages, and on the LASALLE College of the Arts social media channels, as well as in promotional and marketing materials.

By entering the Competition, each participant agrees to the use of their name and image and agrees to co-operate with any such publicity or marketing if they win a prize.
Participants will retain copyright in the entry material that they submit to the Organiser.
By entering the Competition each participant:
grants the Organiser, free of charge, permission to use the entry material (including, without limitation, modifying and adapting it for operational and editorial reasons) in any media worldwide for purposes connected with the Competition and promotion of the Competition, including, but not limited to: Display at a potential exhibition of winners; publication of a book featuring select entries in the Competition; publication online highlighting entries or winners of the Competition.
confirms that the entry material is their original work, is not defamatory and that they have the right to give the Organiser permission to use it for the purposes specified above, and that all necessary consents for the submission of the entry material have been obtained.
participants who are selected to win a prize, grant the Organiser further permission to publish and exhibit their entry material (including, without limitation, modifying and adapting it for operational and editorial reasons) in print and in any media worldwide.
All rights in the Organiser’s name and logo, websites, Facebook pages, Twitter pages, press releases and other promotional and marketing material and all course and examination content and materials shall vest in and remain with the Organiser (or its licensors).
