Hi,

I'm contemplating on getting a compact cam from olympus.
If anyone have this cam, can share with me the photo taken indoor, daylight ourdoor, and night time with flash at 1600x1200pixels

need to see the quality of the pic.

Cos recently got another new cam (casio Z600 which I am selling), the pic quality is not as clear/good as those taken with my old Canon A40 which got only 2.1M pixels.

Thanks for help.

Hi Alex,

I do not have the SP350 but did considered it before I bought my C-70Z.

You can check out the various online reviews to consider:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2005_reviews/sp350.html
http://www.megapixel.net/reviews/oly-sp350/sp350-gen.php
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/olympus/sp350-review/

Generally, from user feedback, the SP350 is known to have very good image quality, from ISO100 all the way to ISO400, in which noise is kept to a very low level. In other words, printable up to at least 8R size at ISO400 without much drop in detail and colour.

Also, the manual controls of this camera is complete and the flash hotshoe is great for indoor shots as you can use bounce flash.

The main negatives are the complains about battery performance when using AA rechargeable(seems to be solved by latest firmware), slow shutter lag, slow shot to shot performance. This camera is probably slow by today's standard but will return excellent image quality.

Thanks for your info.
Is your C70Z price comparable to the SP350 or higher?

since you have used casio. i wanto warn you about e focusing speed. olympus AF sucks big time compared to casio. i used to have a casio P700 which is A1 when it comes to focusing. my C-7070 focus is passable at te wide end........at the tele end...at aperture 4.8....you can even focus under normal lighting. i am talking about talking pictures at swesens under spot light condition. bloody cam can lock on at tele end. ;( ;( ;(

but when it does works, e pictures are good...

Hi thanks for info...
No doubt that casio shutter is fast... taking photo to photo is fast, but the picture sucks... color looks too fake compare to my old Canon A40.
sigh... dilemma

Let your eyes be the judge

Indoor shot with high ceiling. Blue due to movement not the camera

Danish_with_Sunglass.jpg

Outdoor shot

Personal Opinion
1. Gd grip
2. Easy to use
3. When using flash, backgrd has details

thanks for the pic...

3. When using flash, backgrd has details <- my current casio when taking outdoor night photo, only object can be seen, not the background (dark background)

Anyone did any comparison for this cam with a Canon of the same specs?

Camera performance under yellow lighting

pic is clear n object is cute :D

thnaks!

well, it is very handy for a camera that could perform like that. well, there are something lacking compare to my old c4000. i think at least for me it is a good investment.

another thing about olympus camera is the lack of speed. your subject has to be still to capture perfect picture.

Agree. I also have 4040 and 5050 and they really perform. Only problem is speed. Subjects need to be still to shoot. But for SP350's price tag, it really stands out from the crowd with its image quality and I can overlook the shutter lag.

i am looking at panasonic lx01. but the price is way off my budget. i bet my next camera will has to be a panasonic. by the way, i love the size of my sp350. so compact. the other day i was at sentosa. i can finally jagger photo and video at the same time , this is not possible with my c4000.(cubic body) that is also why i did not buy sp5000uz.

By the way...I do carry Olympus SP350.Warrenty set only at $600 with a XD 512mb Highspeed card and throwing in a olympus XD card reader. Pls PM me for details......
Accessories available too!

did the price went up? i paid 590 for the camera which comes with a 1GB xd (fujifilm). which include the charges for paying with visa. but i dun actually knows how much more did the 512 high speed xd card cost compare to my 1 gb xd card.

Hi, i just registered here on the forum :)

Anyways, the topic was the Olympus SP-350. I bought one of those some weeks ago now for 300 euro and i love it. The quality of the pics is great and sharp. I'll include some examples below of what i been shooting lately. These are all photographed without a tripod, just holding the camera in my hand. No postwork done on these photos except the frame added on them, but the photos are otherwise straight outta the SP-350.

i dun know if this macro is good enough for any camera but this is taken by sp350. i only crop the image so that it is easier to download.

the top is paper currency
the bottom is plastic.

you can see that the paper print has smudge over time.
