Came across this video on Youtube, showing a plastic that you put onto your camera body opening to prevent dust from going in. Searched this forum, but did not come across any threads about this.

Just want to check, anyone using Dust Shield? How effective is it?

If you want to check out the video, here is the link:

Somehow i see this thing causing flares judging from its reflectivity. Also would be nasty if it choked your flippin mirror on release  . Overall, a great concept to keep dust out and away from the sensor but as of now im not too stoked bout this.

The sticker does not seal the opening completely as dust can still enter thru the sides. Furthermore, I foresee that the sharpness will be compromise when there is a plastic element in between the lens and sensor.

If this thing has been proven effective, all camera manufacturers should have implemented this long time ago

Sigma has similar implemention on SDx dSLR. They have the removal IR after the mount plate which acts as protection.

But this is the first time I see this plastic sticker thing, there are sure lots of product idea out there.
