Hi there!
I have been finding high and low for trail running shoes... but to no avail.

The brands that I am looking at are columbia sportswear company/montrail.

The only place that I know sells montrail (at a limited range) is Campers Corner, and only Famous Brands @ Capitol/ World of Sports @ orchard area (opp, specialist shopping centre) sells Columbia....

I don't think Queensway has these shoes.
Anyone knows where to get a good price for them? The shops mentioned above are rip-offs....

Or does anyone have any other shoes to recommend?
I am looking for rugged shoes (trail running preferably)....
Thanks a lot!

Snag, sad to say only World of Sports brings in Columbia products. I know it is pricey to buy from WOS, but really no choice as no one else is bringing them in. I know cos I paid S$109 for a pair of convertible pants from Columbia at WOS recently...

If you goto Montrail's website, it lists Campers Corner as its only agent. Anyway, bought a Montrail hiking shoe recently, yeah, pricey but hope they're as good as their reviews...

In general, much of the travel gear sold in Singapore is very expensive! Columbia, Montrail, etc brand products are very hard to find & also tend to be sold at the FULL list-price.

You MAY want to consider ordering from the States... ? I have bought convertible pants, shirts, fleece jackets, etc on-line. The sizes there tend to be 1 size bigger, so I adjust accordingly...

Most importantly, the prices are very good - for e.g. an REI travel pants sold by B.O.A.C. goes for $115. I got mine for ~$50 (incl shipping cost by air) when I did a bulk order (5 pieces) recently. :)

But shoes may be a different matter cos trying it on is very important IMHO... Why not surf the Net & check out what's on offer?

www.rei.com (there's also an "Outlet" sub-site)
www.campmor.com

Regards.

Thanks all!
Unforunately, those online retail stores do not really carry that much... argh.

Looks like I have to go down to get slaughtered by those stores.
Especially Campers Corner. Their Mountainsmith products are way way overpriced...

EDIT: I found this shop in Penisula Plaza / Shopping Centre that sells quite a lot of Merell/Columbia/Timberland shoes... Although the tags are priced at retail, I shall try to bargain.

But I will probably go next week, after visiting Queensway first...

Sigh.
Maybe I should open up a outdoor equipment shop... :D

I agree with Andrew that shoes should not be bought from online stores unless you've tried it out personally at a local store... ;)

There're 2 outdoor/adventure equipment stores on the 2nd level of Peninsula Plaza. One beside Alex Photo and another beside K-13 or something. There're another one at Chinatown point (though don't remember them carrying Columbia/Mountainsmith products..)

For Timberland/Merrill, think I've seen them at Queensway, so, good idea to go there and have a look

hey, thanks for the heads up.

Frankly speaking, I think Timberland shoes are quite overpriced and lousy (for their price point.)

But they have good boots as well....
