I noticed something strange...

I took out my seldom used Nikon Soft filter.. think i haven't used it for more than 2 years. To my initial "horror", I found a very thin film of coating on the filter which makes it look even more blur when u look thru it. It's not fungus. Not sure if this is what is called FOGGING?

What causes this??? Luckily I used a lens cloth to wipe and it was gone. All my filters and cameras are always stored in the dry cabinet. I checked on my lenses and thank goodness, no such thing.

Anyone experience this? In particular if u do own the Nikon Soft filter?

How did you store the filter?
It could be plastic outgassing from the filter container.

Really? Is there such a thing?

I stored it in its plastic case... Cud that be it?

Read somewhere that Nikon plastic cases don't have this gas coming out.........but not 100% sure.
