If you shoot in FX mode with this lens, the answer is 'YES'.

However, it must be said that the vignetting is less severe than expected

It also depends how you shoot with it.
Focus distance and aperture value do have a significant impact on the effect of the vignetting.

35/1.8 on D700 in FX mode.

The vignette will become more and more obvious as your point of focus is further and further away. Once your subject is more than 4m away, the vignette will become very dark.

So this lens is ok on D700 when aperture is from F1.8 to F3.5. And focus distance is 4m and below.

Vignette? Yes. Usable? Definitely.

Google or check your manual. It shall be disabling "Auto DX sensing" or something like that.

In FX mode (check your D700 setup), you can try to use this lens and shoot to open sky under bright daylight.

You will find a beautiful dark circle on the corner

this lens is in heavy demand and low supply in HK, hunted whole of MK last month and can only find one copy.
good thing it was a sharp one, bought on behalf of a friend.

and we all now know why is it so sought after.

This lens is actually very usable. Shoot carefully with a black background and you won't notice the vignetting much.

subjective, I feel awkward when my photos have vignett, guess it personnel. Compare to 35mm f2, f2 version AF faster but i find the 1.8 is sharper.

Actually the f1.8 pic posted looks less vignetting than than my F1.4G.... was any auto correction applied?

I find the 35mm f1.4G has quite visible vignetting at f1.4. if you open the raw file in photoshop.

Straight out of cam JPEG. auto vignette correction off. Shot on D700, DX mode off. You have to draw you own conclusions. I find it usable. Sweet spot seems to be F2.2 to 2.8.
I sold the 35mm (2nd one I sold!) since I already have 24mm and 50mm.

Subject very close, around 0.5 m. Aperture F2.8
