Any tips for Guilin and Yangshuo?

I will be in Guilin from 28 Mar 09 to 6 Apr 09. Any tips or suggestions for photoshoot? Any suggestions for budget accommodations? Thanks

nothing much in guilin, u can straight away head to yangshuo to shoot the karsts.

for accommodation, u should check out lonely planet; there's a range of accommodations there.

Arrived Yangshuo and checked into this family run inn called West Lily. Not bad for RMB70 per nite, RMB60 on weekdays. Wonder any one know if there is a hotel with a great view of the river and Karsts

yangshuo would be the place that you might interested with as it is a heaven for those rock climber where lot of "Ang mo" head that for that.

As for accommodations, need not to worry. THere are plenty of those "Old House" kind of hotel or place to stay with. Price range can be from 80 RMB to 200RMB depend on which one you stay, especially those have a better "view" one will be more X compare to the normal one.

THe timing you heading there are kind of good as it not too cold nor it hot and most important it's not the golden holidays for the local. Cos it sure pack with people during the Golden holiday which fall on 1st week of May and 1st week of Oct.

西街 will be the place that you going, i head there from the Guiling Railway station and there are plenty of Bus and private Van that bring you there, but i forgot there price liao, shd be not more than 50RMB. It about an hour +++ journey.

Remember to try the Guilin Mee Hoon at Yangsuo, it's very nice!!!! And their kind of BBQ fish in the night. But not sure this timing have it or not cos i was there around Nov time so the weather is very cooling.

西街 has been more commercialise compare to last time. So ask the price 1st before u buy anything there.

just bring both as you dun knw what you going to get and try the "river bamboo" thing. It fun and it cost around 200RMB, it about 2 hours ride! It's fun!
