any suggestions on monopods?

what brand of monopods is affordable.. and what head to get? a BALL?
looking for a manfrotto. monopod with head budget to $250. enuff?

$250 is more than enough for a monopod...

I got the Manfrotto SS Monopod (Self-Standing)... and the monopod head for just over $100. (If I remember correctly)..

I personally didn't quite like the base of the monopod which is hard. I'd rather much like the rubber base of my previous monopod which allowed me to use it like a walking stick and didn't have to worry about placing the monopod ever so carefully on the ground without having to create a 'thud'..

the self standing mono like a 3 leg extension rader thingy onto the ground... i prefer one which i hold on left hand rite hand snap type

I found the 3 leg extension impractical during a shoot... I always have it kept during shoots... extended only when I'm resting..
