Am not a pro. In my opinion, DAL35 is more useful than DA40. I have a M40/2.8, the same optic formula as DA40. And I don't find it useful other than it been pancake slim.

Then again, you got to ask yourself what kind of photography you wanna shoot. And your style.

Any reason why choose the 35mm over the 40mm pancake? In terms of image quality and size I would expect the pancake to win? BTW adorama/b&h selling the pancake for about 330 usd, a steal if you ask me.

size, yes. IQ, not necessarily... the DAL 35 is really good too. and cheaper.
