There's a few jap food joints on the 3rd floor frequented by many japanese families; which give you an idea on the level of autenticity....

1) there is a noodles place in Diamaru ( Resturant) not the ramen counter one.
2) Another place at Robertson walk (Manga book place) <== my favorite
Have you tried Waraku? The soba is simply good! We to the East Coast and/or the Marina Sq branch at least once a month. Gotta recommend the cold soba....
If u work in shenton way/raffles place, can try this small shop near the ex-SIA building. Just walk straight down from Lau Pa Sat along Robinson road.

i recommend Noodle House Ken at Orchard Plaza (the dodgy-looking shopping centre beside Meridien). Huge, juicy chunks of meat in rich broth and textured noodles (try to see the difference from chains like Ajisen's) with a good choice of extra toppings and sides.
Go try before the building (reportedly) gets en-bloced.

The one at Central is called Marutama Ramen, I think or something like that.
