There are two versions, one for PS2 and the other for windows. I think I might go for the Windows one, since the PS2 will need to install a HDD as well.. and I heard it's USD$99 for the game (preinstalled) and the HDD.

Nope, actually you have to buy the BB unit, cos FFXI is only playable online. The BB Unit with the HDD is around $250. Then you have to subscribe to PlayOnline, which is around US$20 a month.
