any one care to share their experience ? thanks

How much is her budget?? i thing a Dyanx 600si +50mm 1.7 is a better choice.for classic controls.

The Pentax MZ-50 is a beginner SLR, and takes only autofocus Pentax lenses. I own one of these, and it has since sit inside my drybox as a backup AF body after I got another AF model.

Essentially, it works. If you compare feature with feature, you probably can get a better deal with other brands or other models of Pentax.

how about a Nikon F601QD with a 35-70mm variable zoom ??should get it less than $400 used.
2nd F601 should cost ard $250+-
i sold off my 35-70mm variable lens for $100 last time.
or u might wanna get a 50mm,but i believe the zoom will be more fun for a beginner.
i still keep my F601 with me,can't bear to sell it away.very nice and solid camera tthat comes with a built in flash too.abit noisy though.

Cheers !

I think this Camera did not come with a Manual Exposure mode. It would be very useful feature if she decided to take slides in future.

Very few people use Pentax now, she is likely to face problem buying and selling used lenses with Pentax.

Try to hunt for a used Eos 500N or a Nikon instead.
