I keep spotting those uncommon birds in the wild. Last year this was one of the famous pair of HB spoted around Eng Neo Ave. I was not in luck despite my many visits there to find them. Well, yesterday, it appeared out of nowhere right in front of me. I have to remove my extender from my lens to shoot and yet i cant capture the whole bird. I was that close. The Great Hornbill

;) How close was it to you? Must had got a fright.

I also seen it some times ago. The rhino and the great.
On one of my photo, the great horn bill leg is with a tag..an escapee.
Borrow your thread to post...let me know if you wish me to remove the photos :)

When I spoted it, it was about 20 Meters away. As I was blocked by the leaves, i have to move closer to about 8M to shoot. My presence did not bother her(was told its a female) at all as it continue to eat the fruits on the tre, moving from branches to branches. Well, I move off when I had enough and she was still there. I have this habbit of not staying too long around a wild bird when I shoot. If I dont get a good shot, so be it. I dont want the bird to be frighten by me.

Your shots are great too. Taken last year? I missed them.
