It is even more difficult to make an airliner disappear. Maybe the Russians think that if the Americans can bring down one MH without repercussions, so can they. We need the referee to give 2 red cards.

The Americans and Russians have both shot down airliners during the Cold War. This more recent one seems to be done by the rebels though. Though the curious thing is that I haven't seen pictures of the Rebels' radar assets.

I would ask people not to blame Malaysian airlines or anyone related to the airlines for this.

A Singapore airlines flight and Indian Airlines flight were just 25 km of MH17 when this happened. It was pure bad luck and horrible attack which caused this. Blame it on the people who fired that missile. If they had locked on another plane it would have been the same result which is death of innocent people.

The unverified transcript was posted online by the Kiev Post newspaper:
Igor Bezler: 'We have just shot down a plane. Group Minera. It fell down beyond Yenakievo (Donetsk Oblast).
Vasili Geranin:'Pilots. Where are the pilots?'
IB:'Gone to search for and photograph the plane. Its smoking.'
VG: 'How many minutes ago?'
IB: 'About 30 minutes ago.'
The next part of the conversation took place about 40 minutes later, it was reported.
Major: 'These are Chernukhin folks who shot down the plane. From the Chernukhin check point. Those cossacks who are based in Chernukhino.'
Greek: Yes, Major.
Major: 'The plane fell apart in the air. In the area of Petropavlovskaya mine. We have found the first 200 (code word for dead person). A Civilian.'
Greek: 'Well, what do you have there?
Major: 'In short, it was 100 per cent a passenger (civilian) aircraft.'
Greek: 'Are many people there?'
Major: 'Holy s***. The debris fell right into the yards (of homes).'
Greek: 'What kind of aircraft?'
Major: 'I haven’t ascertained this. I haven’t been to the main site. I am only surveying the scene where the first bodies fell. There are the remains of internal brackets, seats and bodies.'
Greek: 'Is there anything left of the weapon?'
Major: 'Absolutely nothing. Civilian items, medicinal stuff, towels, toilet paper.'
Greek: 'Are there documents?'
Major: 'Yes, of one Indonesian student. From a university in Thompson.'

These airlines made a conscious decision to fly over the war zone when other airlines have already diverted their flights. They should be held responsible.

Singapore Airlines said in a statement that it had been using Ukrainian airspace but had "re-routed all our flights" to alternative corridors away from the region.

A little late for this, SQ351 could have been shot down instead.

All Najib can do now is to blame ICAO.

SQ325, departed on Tuesday 15 July from Frankfurt did use the Ukraine airspace - unless the Flight Display in IFE system that I watched is a recorded session and not the actual route.
So whatever these jokers are claiming: they only changed flight path after the disaster.
Looking at the display and remembering the past weeks' headlines really gave me an uneasy feeling. I was glad when the aircraft cleared the area..

Well its created a furore here in Australia, opposition leaders are calling for Russia to be banned from the upcoming G20 Summit in Brisbane. And numerous reports abound that Australians are calling their travel agents and changing their flights from Malaysian Airlines to other carriers.
