For the first time ever in South East Asia, Singapore will celebrate the diversity of Japanese Pop Culture.

Taking place on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2008 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Center, Anime Festival Asia 2008 (AFA08) will showcase a wide array of Japanese Pop Culture related content, spanning over 5,000 sqm of space with 6 experience zones: Akiba Town, Anime Live, Anime Blockbusters, Industry, Mangaka and Planet Mech, where visitors will gain access to exclusive content, merchandise and live acts straight from Japan.

The festival targets children, youth, adults and industry visitors both locally and from around the region – with an expected turnout in excess of 80,000 visitors.

Time: 10.00am to 9.00pm
Venue: Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore Hall 403 and 404
Admission: $5 (1 day) / $8 (2 days) Children under 6 years enter for free

Akiba Town
“Akiba” the nickname for Akihabara in Tokyo is currently the retail epicenter of Anime, Games and Toys in Tokyo. Akiba Town brings Akihabara right to the shores of Singapore with a market place that retails all things anime and Japanese related!

Anime Live
The Anime Live zone will screen the latest anime movies and series, stage live music performances, plus live character shows for children featuring the likes of Masked Rider, Power Rangers, Tamagotchi and more. In addition, anime and manga fans will get the chance to dress up as their favourite anime characters and take part in a Cosplay contest.

Anime Blockbusters
This special content area will showcase some of Asia’s best and most successful animes, delivered to visitors via exclusive footage, artifacts, and rare materials behind the creative scenes, such as storyboards, character design, background design, and prop designs.

Industry
Aimed at building and developing the animation and related creative industries in Singapore and the region.

AFA08 will invite industry leaders to share their expertise and knowledge on content development and management. This B2B section will also target students considering a career in the anime industries.

mangaka
Featuring all things related to Manga art.
Showcasing sketches from manga artists and Manga drawing competitions such as Graphite ’08 and Mangaka 08

PLANET MECH -A BANDAI SHOWCASE
Planet Mech features model kits and toys, including exclusive models for collectors.

Activities include:

- 2008 Bandai Action Kits Universal Cup (BAKUC) Competition
- Exclusive Product Sales Launch
- Children’s Workshops - Bandai action kit construction
- Perfect Airbrush Challenge
- “Gundam Seed Destiny” Diorama Display

when i read the first time ... i was really really surprise and enthusiastic at that two word :bsmilie:
 

nothing odd about the 2 words, its just that most adults will think anime (not hentai) is for young children. :)

targeting industry means maybe next time got another Odex saga coming up? :bsmilie:
 

i hope to attend to but i'll be at 6th level workin on a bookfair then..
