Angle of taking pics...what are the effects?

Suppose if u were to take a portrait with the camera at eye lvl position and frame the shot, whats the difference if its being done at the chest lvl or even lower (u bending down or squatting)? which is better for portraiture? (in helping the subject to look nicer)

If your subject is shorter than you, then shooting at eye level gives the "looking down" effect. Not so nice. If you can shoot the portrait without tilting your camera up/down, that will be good.

I am talking about "normal" shooting here, of coz, if you are looking for something different, then do something different. e.g. shoot someone from below, using a wide angle. He will look tall, grand and overpowering.
