my first try in studio still-life quite sometime back (shot with my cp4500) ... the focus is out, but there's something about the photo that i don't want to throw it away yet ...

what's your feeling about this picture?

wow.. think u have a good idea there..
like the ring of light created by the blurred rim of cup.
the pots/cups can be slightly better lit.
Good work!!

thanks! :)

these are fist-size cups, anyone would like to suggest better lighting? we were originally shooting with 2 lights until our master photog guided us with one light to get more dramatic effect actually ...

still life needs lots of practise i guess ... next studio session then.

another fist-size cup photograph for comments ...

original in colour

also how would you improve the lighting? in the setup other than the single flash light from the right there's also a highly reflective surface the cup sits on (a silver coated art paper)

prefer the original.....the colour is a perfect match for the black bg.

hmmm ... ok ... i guess the warm colour stands out better, thanks :)

the background was black actually because no light was falling on it, it's the same silver coated art paper the cup sits on ... it was rather tricky dealing with the reflection ... anyone thinks a small light from the left side highlighting the left surface of the cup would improve the picture?
