Had an event shoot with a long time client today and half way through this young chap (I later found out he's 22) came in and started farming out business cards to as many people as he could while I suspect, avoiding me. The way he was doing it was rather dubious and suspect, interrupting the guest and my client at the event.
I later confirmed my suspicions. He was handing out his card advertising himself as a photographer. This was a small event in a somewhat up-market area and some of the guest who were already familiar with me were asking about my so-called "colleague". Needless to say I disassociated myself from that individual and it raised a couple of eyebrows among the guest.
So, to the guy from Jeffri Angkasa Photography, please go learn some ethics and not ride on the coattails of others. What you did only ended up making yourself look bad and unprofessional. You made yourself look cheap in an up-market environment.
Honestly, I'm not worried about this person cutting into my business but the lack of ethics is something else altogether. I hope for the sake of the industry it is not a sign of things to come.
